So I am trying to post something once a week now, shocking, eh?!
This past weekend was quite busy at our church, Oakwood Church, with the ministry, Mission: Hope, as we presented a plea for the orphans during National Orphan Sunday. I truly hope some seeds were planted for God's will and work to be done for these orphans.
Tomorrow, Alex and Zoey go for their annual vet trip! Exciting, I know, for them, not so much! LOL Otherwise we both have our regular work schedules to attend to.
This Friday will be busy in regards to our foster child, Little One. We will be meeting the Guardian ad litem, the child's lawyer, for the first time that morning. That afternoon we will have our monthly visit from our caseworker, the FAS, Foster and Adoption Specialist; as well as Little One's case worker, OCM, Ongoing Case Manager. I'm still hoping we can get the GAL to come at the same time as the FAS and OCM so that everyone is on the same page in regards to the TPR, Termination of Parental Rights.
I just want to share one quick thing that I will always remember from one of my bible study groups:
Seek Jesus first and all other things will follow. Put other things first, then Jesus will get lost in the mix. In other words, Jesus is your vision correction device. Where is your focus?
Have a blessed week y'all!

Fall 2010 Update
As some of you know, we have decided to put our private adoption search on hold. That is okay, and it took me a while to get to that this past week. We have yearned to be parents for so long, and we are, even if it is just as foster parents, we are raising a wonderful little girl. Due to the confidentiality of this foster case, I will say that it has played a huge part in our suspending the private adoption search at this time. We could potentially be adopting this little girl next year sometime. We are at the very beginnings of this process, and as some of you know, foster care TPR (Termination of Parental Rights) is its own roller coaster of emotions. However, we surrender it all to God and wait for our 6 months pre-adoptive period to end with Little One in February, just 4 days before my 35th birthday. We do plan to adopt again, we just need to know that it is God's timing.
I have cut back down to one part-time job now and am very grateful that we can do so. I continue to serve on the board of two local ministries, the Hartland Area Food Pantry and Mission: Hope, an orphan care mininstry at Oakwood Church. Jack continues to work very hard at his business and they now have 4 employees on staff! We are struggling however with one of our parrots, Zoey and his territorial behavior. With Little One running around the house now, Zoey gets more aggressive in making sure his territory is for him only. No one has been harmed, we will do our best to never let that happen! Will you pray for us as we struggle with this situation? We may need to find another home for him.
Here is an updated picture of Jack and I taken back in September by Nick Welsh.
A sneak peek of us with Little One.
Write to us if you want to know more about adoption or foster care! We hope you are happy, safe, healthy and know that you are a blessing to us! Have a wonderful season of giving thanks to those special in your life! God bless!
